NEW BUS SERVICES FROM 17 AUGUST 2014

BACKGROUND
The regional public transport authority, Region Dalarna (The Regional Development Council), has assigned Dalatrafik to procure an efficient joint public transport system within the County of Dalarna, and, as appropriate, over the county borders. We will coordinate all types of journeys in an integrated public transport system.

THE NEW PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM
All bus routes will be given new numbers. There will be four new concepts for bus services – Direktbussar (Direct Buses), Landsbygdsbussar (Country Buses), Stadsbussar (Town Buses) and Flextrafik.  However, we will not replace cards and tickets. If you already have a bus card you can continue to use it.

Direktbussar (Direct Buses) will be coordinated with trains and connect all our municipalities with fast transport and frequent services. At travel centres and other important stops, change points will be established where the routes of Direktbussar (Direct Buses) and Landsbygdsbussar (Country Buses) intersect. Our ambition is to ensure that you have to change buses as little as possible. There will also be a local network of Stadsbussar (Town Buses).

Large buses will serve routes with many passengers according to timetable. Smaller vehicles will be used for journeys with fewer passengers; sometimes these journeys must be booked in advance.

All forms of service transport will be coordinated and will in due course also be available for the public. The new name of this type of service, which must be booked in advance, is Flextrafik.

NEW BUS STOP SIGNS
All our bus stops are being reviewed, and where necessary we will improve the signs and information. Work with replacing all bus stop signs will start in week 31, and consequently the number on an approaching bus may not be the same as the number displayed on the bus stop. But the old system will apply as usual until 17 August, when everything should be ready.
